Week 12, The Little Nonya.

The Little Nonya has recently been announced as the most watched Mediacorp drama in 15 years, receiving high ratings daily, and the love of many locals. It has defeated many other prestigious drama titles, and is definitely worth watching. Nonya culture is very vibrant and interesting, having a really long heritage. Their cuisines are mouth watering, and their costumes, very attractive and flamboyant.

In my opinion, I feel that Joanne Peh and Zzen Zhang have acted really well, and deserve much praise. Joanne Peh acts as a rich and kind hearted young mistress of a rich family. However, she turns mentally unstable in the later part of the story, due to some traumatic experiences she has to deal with. I think that she should be given a remuneration for her wonderful take on of the role.

Zzen Zhang, who took on the role of Robert Zhang, a nasty, fiery tempered, rich businessman, fared rather well too. He was able to make others timourous of him, and was an outstanding "bad guy". Many viewers have responded to his evil ways, and his role received alot of publicity and commentaries.

However, the 5 minute alternate ending of the show, was such a let down. Not only did it not make a difference to the actual plot, but it was too short and rather senseless. Many people have complained about it, and it has gained numerous diatribes. Despite this, I still feel that the drama is enjoyable to watch, and can get one hooked onto its complicated plot!
